RENTAP!!

The Picture of Rentap

Rentap or Libau died in 1863 was a famous Iban warrior in East Malaysia especially Sarawak. He was known as Raja Darat or Raja Ulu and his name Rentap means Shaker of the world. In Malaysia, he is not only known in Sarawak but also a hero in both Peninsula and East Malaysia as both national hero and freedom fighter. His rebellion was due to the White Rajah`s or James Brooke's of eliminating the Ibans in Skrang because he thought they were pirates of the sea. Being the leader od Ibans there, Rentap took the action to attack James Brook fort at Skrang River called Nanga Skrang. Brooke then burnt Rentap's village after he successfully drove James Brooke`s side of Skrang. He retreated to Bukit Sadok and built himself a fort after the defeat at Sungai Lang, Ulu Skrang by James Brooke in 1854. There he gained reputation and fight off many plans by James Brooke to control the Skrang and Saribas areas. At last after many attempts and with the aids of bigger cannons, James Brooke finally defeat Rentap in 1861. Rentap never officially surrendered even though he was defeated. He finally retreated to Sungai Entabai and died there.

Objective

The main objectives of the creation of this blog is mainly to serve the audience a reason to remember all the past Malaysian warriors that had been fighting for the sole purpose of Independence and their own self express. Rentap has been heard all across Malaysia but still, some people still don't know why. In this blog, i would like to give an advice to all Malaysian. "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" (George Santayana)(1952). Remember for the sake of future generation.
